Cavurali
was designed and built for folks who prefer a seaworthy boat to a floating
hotel. Cavurali is also for folks who do not wish to compromise from comfort & quality,
yet still be able to feel the nostalgia and live the tradition. We believe some
degree of nostalgic tradition should be present to justify a timeless sailing
voyage like this in these Aegean & Mediterranean waters.
Behind the
design of this 65-foot single mast yacht lies the "Tirhandil Qaique",
a boat preferred by the mariners and sponge divers of the Levant for it's
seaworthiness, sailing ability, and stability. Tirhandil means 3 to 1 in
Greek, referring to the ratio between the length and beam. Handbuilt in Bodrum
in 1999, the hull and decks of Cavurali are entirely from teak. The interior is
made of mohagany. She is the largest tirhandil sailing in these waters, tastefully
accented with antique bronze portholes & cowl ducts.
One of the best features of Cavurali is it's crew. Tosun Sezen, captain
and co-owner, is a much celebrated and experienced sponge diver and sea-farer.
He is the perfect host and very fluent in English. Our gourmet cook is a
master of his trade, surpassing the needs and expectatons of our guests for a
healthy and varied diet.
Cavurali has 4 comfortable cabins with private bathrooms, good for accommodating
up to 6-8 guests. 2 cabins have seperate twin beds, while the other 2 cabins
have double beds. The crew of 3 have their own quarters and facilities.
Select linnen and towels are provided. Spacious aft and fore decks complete
with Sunbrella awnings and sun matresses provide comfortable outdoor dining,
lounging, and sleeping areas, while the cozy interior saloon provides an enjoyable
refuge during off-season sails and on those rare rainy days. Full air conditioning
is available as an option, but Cavurali's natural ventilation is usually
sufficient even during those hot mid-summer days. Toys available to you on board
free of charge include 2 Ocean Kayak's, a sailboard, and snorkeling gear.
